  Sunday WT Study- King of North and South

  paragraph 8 dealing with who is the anglo-american power -- they note different images- feet of clay, 7 headed beast which has a 8th head arise, and so on.

  the last image is of the "false prophet- indicating this is another aspect of the anglo american image quoting revelation 19:20 and saying the wild beast and the false prophet are one in the same -(i see the as separate entities) -- a/a dual world power.

  which will be destroyed... .

  Beth and Sigried - you don't have to get people to believe your rubbish. All you have to do is take the platform/loud speaker and make sure the oppositions keeps quiet.

  While we are on the subject of employment - does anyone know whether or not this is true? It is something I saw on TV years ago but when I later asked someone they said, "no that's not true. That's rubbish."

  So - it's this - when you push drugs, ordinary people who work wont take them because they want to keep their heads free to make sensible decisions.

  But if you provide the population with low cost housing and keep them entertained, then you have a market for your drugs. Therefore there is a drive amongst some, to invest in low cost housing and certain forms of entertainment, which on the surface appear motivated by social concern, but the end result is a growth in drug taking. And that growth in drug taking was the desired outcome from the beginning.

  The Bible says Babylon the Great is both a city and the Mother of Harlots who affects people by using her spiritistic practices on them. That word spiritistic in Greek is φαρμακείᾳ (pharmakeia) which is like pharmacy, to do with drugs (harmful ones). Because of this description in the Bible, Babylon the Great can be interpreted as meaning all false religion, ie spiritism.

  Well doesn't the Watchtower's methods lead some to end up in low cost housing? The congregation members aren't entertained, so much as kept busy and bored. But there is a big social network.

  I don't know whether the TV progam I watched was telling the truth and it was on years ago. But it was plausable.

  " judgment of the court by ostracizing members who no longer share the faith, they are implicitly denied freedom of faith and conscience (proof of good faith).

  don't quote any scriptures during the watchtower study that are not in the paragraph.. don't quote the governing body or anything from the broadcast ever.

  it might be true but it is not true truth if it is coming out of your mouth if you have been critical of the governing body.

  especially so if your criticism is valid and you have dared to support you view with scriptures, most especially the words of jesus christ.. anyone know of other new tactics?.

  truth_b_know - yes that's how I remember it.

  DD - a CO arrive and cut up our cong. The elders in the new cong were as you describe. I was shocked by their attitude. One of them said to me that if the Soc said black was white and white was black he'd believe them. So I stumped him by saying, "what if they say adultery is ok?"

  Actually his mate (other elder) used to go round making dirty phone calls. He's still in. I got thrown out for sticking to what the Bible said at Dan 1:1 and Dan 2:1 plus behaving like a Christian.

  LV101 - I maybe heard some things like that (can't remember). But some stuff could be totally ignored. Now that's changed.

  for those of us who could sit through the program so far, i did find it interesting that they are again asking for people to apply to bethel.. i happened to speak to a friend who called and asked him why they would do that.

  his response was that, well, they need younger people there.. i guess once you are over 50 or something you are eligible to be sent out to pasture..

  Hi DesirousOfChange - yes I get what you are saying about employment being like modern day slavery. I agree.

  Although info might be hidden, at least we keep on and on about it. There's something about Watchtower's unjust ways that never really leaves you because it is so outrageous, crafty and dangerous. Unless you have experienced it first hand, you can't believe it. And even when you have experienced it first hand, it's still hard to believe - well that's my take on it.

  Prophesy from a JW (and others perspective). What purpose is there in trying to interpretate some of the stuff that you don't understand??

  this is not a jw-bashing thing, but it always seemed odd to me that the "excuse" when things go wrong is that "we have to wait and see how the prophesy is fulfilled" or some other wording.. my question has always been, then what is the purpose of the prophesy if you don't understand it until after the fact?

  isn't that like having a weather forecast but being told that we don't really know what the weather will be until the next day?.

  i'm sure some of the intelligent people here can guide me but in all honesty, i never understood that..

  Oh yes and the stuff you can't understand, you can't understand. Maybe because it is written in a different way to normal just like a can get a photo and 3d picture. Maybe you can have ordinary writing and 3d writing which would require a special kind of relational database (app) to read?
